Are your kids' toys 'Military Brat Approved'?

Military kids have spoken: Thomas the Tank Engine Avalanche Escape Set and about 150 other toys have earned the unofficial “Military Brat Approved” label.

These toys will be among those featured in the Toyland sections opening Sept. 17 in exchanges on Army and Air Force bases worldwide, and at shopmyexchange.com.

That logo means the toys have received the stamp of approval from dozens of military children at Fort Hood, who were asked to test the products this summer. Exchange officials noted which toys got the most interest.

The toys will also be among those featured in the exchanges’ Toy Book, which launches Oct. 17.

Among others that made the cut:

■ For preschoolers: LeapFrog Medical Kit

■ For 6- to 9-year-olds: Lalaloopsy dolls, Monster High Hairfitti and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles classic collection

■ Tweens: Nerf Zombie Strike Crossfire blaster

Each year, the exchanges open their Toyland sections filled with hundreds of selections for holiday shopping.

Through Dec. 24, shoppers can put toy purchases of at least $25 on layaway, at no charge.
