Ramstein, Kaiserslautern are stingy hosts


The Kaiserslautern Military Community was a harsh on-field host for visiting girls soccer teams this weekend, as both International School of Brussels and Lakenheath swung through Kaiserslautern and Ramstein and were sent home without so much as a goal for their troubles.


The defending Division I champion Ramstein Royals blasted ISB and Lakenheath by identical 9-0 scores on Friday and Saturday, respectively. Kaiserslautern edged Lakenheath 1-0 on Friday before laying a 10-0 beating on ISB on Saturday.


Royal striker Ebony Madrid scored eight combined goals over the two games. Amanda Ambrose, Gabrielle James, Lakyn Parker and Kendall Spohr also totaled multiple goals on the weekend for Ramstein.


Arianna Osmar and Hannah Grebos starred for Kaiserslautern in its pair of wins. Osmar scored the decisive goal off a Grebos assist on Friday. On Saturday, Grebos scored three goals and handed out an assist and Osmar added two goals and two assists.


Neither Ramstein or Kaiserslautern has been scored against in three games this season. Both will look to change that when they play each other Thursday at Kaiserslautern.


Naples 3, American Overseas School of Rome 0: Saturday at Rome, the visiting Wildcats began their season in earnest with the first win and first goals of their young season.


With only a scoreless tie against Vicenza on their ledger coming into Saturday, Naples produced a first-half goal and tacked on two more after halftime to outlast the Falcons. Katye Cairns, Amanda Ortega and Shiloh Houseworth recorded the scores for the Wildcats.


Vicenza 1, Sigonella 0: Saturday at Sigonella, the Cougars returned to the win column with a narrow defeat of the host Jaguars.


Vicenza will play one more game before spring break, a Thursday visit from Aviano.


Sigonella will take perhaps DODDS-Europe's most star-crossed set of results into the intermission. The Jaguars have lost both of their games by 1-0 scores, including a March 21 setback to AOSR.


Patch 1, Wiesbaden 1: Saturday at Wiesbaden, Janice Teschner scored a second-half goal to help the home team force a tie.


Kaitlyn Farrar scored in the first half to stake Patch to an early lead.


The game was an encouraging sign for Wiesbaden, which has designs on challenging for a European crown even in the trumped-up Division I bracket. The Warriors routed lower-division foes Black Forest Academy and Ansbach before finally seeing intradivisional competition in the Panthers, a title-game mainstay.


Jordan Reed made 12 saves in goal for Wiesbaden, while Tyra Hook notched six saves for Patch.


Hohenfels 7, Vilseck 3: Saturday at Hohenfels, the Tigers raced out to a 5-0 lead to knock off their Bavarian rivals.


Amelia Heath scored four goals and added an assist and Jessica Gamez produced three goals and an assist for Hohenfels, which recovered from a season-opening 9-0 loss to Patch on March 21.


Alyssa Manitas scored twice for the Falcons.


AFNORTH 5, Brussels 0: Friday at Brunssum, Netherlands, the Lions blanked the Brigands.


Caitlyn Helwig continued her prolific early-season play with three goals and an assist to lead AFNORTH. Frida Lunde continued a season-long shutout in goal with six saves.


AFNORTH is idle until April 24, when it will host Bitburg and Rota for a Division II gathering.


Baumholder 1, Menwith Hill 0: Saturday at Baumholder, the Bucs edged the visiting Mustangs.

Claudia Seal scored a second-half goal off an assist by Celina Orozco to deliver the victory.


The win reversed Baumholder's fortunes against another visiting United Kingdom team. Alconbury beat Baumholder 1-0 on Friday.
