Fourth person arrested in connection with body found on Fort Bragg

RAEFORD - Four people have been arrested and charged with robbing and kidnapping a man whose body was found on Fort Bragg last week.

After charging two Raeford men over the weekend, Hoke County deputies arrested another two Monday, a news release said. Two brothers and a couple are now charged with robbing 18-year-old Tayvon Joseph McMillan, whose body was found April 4 on the north side of Plank Road.

Brothers Jaquan C. Peterson, 19, and Dejour Peterson, 17, along with Joel Thornton, 23, and his 17-year-old girlfriend Della Ryan Locklear were each in Hoke County jail Monday. All four live in the 100 block of Utah Street in Raeford.

Each was charged with first-degree kidnapping, robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy, assault with a deadly weapon and larceny of a motor vehicle.

The four are accused of luring McMillan to the 100 block of Sundance Drive in Raeford on the night he was killed, a news release said.

Investigators said McMillan was attacked by "multiple people" in the Somerset subdivision off Hobson Road, according to the release, and was then transported to Bragg, where he was killed.

Plank Road skirts the Hoke County edge of Fort Bragg and is open to the public for use.

Thornton's bail was set at $100,000. The other three were each given a $1 million bond.
